First Birthday

Alexander's birthday is fast approaching and so far I have his invitations sent and most of the decorations printed. I ordered the invitations from Juice Box Creations on Etsy.com. I couldn't be happier with Alex's invitations. There is a picture of Alex for every month of his first year, starting with day one and going to 12 months. I really don't have a "12 month" picture, because I wouldn't be able to get these sent out in time for his party, so the larger picture is supposed to be a 12 month picture, but it is an 11 month picture. We took it right after he got his first hair cut.

I love my sweet boy.

I ordered Alex's birthday decor from DimplePrints on Etsy.com. I have cut out all the birthday hats and I'm almost finished putting them together.

We're going to have his party back home, so all his cousins can come. We are going to have so much fun! I'm going to order pizza and serve chips and drinks. I don't want to get carried away with the food and spend a tons of money, because everyone likes pizza.

I believe Alexander's First Birthday Celebration is going to be a BLAST!

Alexander's First Haircut

Patrick and I took Alexander to get his first haircut this afternoon. We took him to a place here in Omaha called Ponytails & Buzzcuts and I will have to say that the $34.00 we spent was sooooo worth it.
I was nervous about Alex getting his hair cut, because I didn't know if he was going to freak out or what, but he was an absolute angel. The second we walked through the doors he was looking around and taking it all in. They have a collection of child cartoons for all ages and a TV at each station. Instead of regular chairs, they had little car, airplane & firetruck chairs. Alex got to sit in the little car and he had a great time. He kept trying to fold in the side mirrors of the car...so funny!

As he was getting his hair cut, daddy and I snapped pictures and took video of Alex's first hair cutting experience.

Here is Alex's before picture.

Alex meeting the lady (I feel bad that I didn't get her name) who was going to transform him from a little baby to a big boy.
Alex kept trying to figure out why she kept messing with his hair, so she gave him a comb to chew on. Haha!

The Wiggles was the DVD we picked out and it pretty much kept his attention.
He did so well.
I love how he was leaning forward in this picture.
Just relaxing
Here come the electric clippers.

So cute!
After

This framed before & after picture was part of the First Haircut package. They even put a lock of his hair in between the two pictures.

Today was such an amazing day.

Welcome to Growing Up Alex

My son is the most amazing little boy in the world, so I decided to dedicate a blog just to him. The name "Growing Up Alex" comes from one of my favorite shows on Animal Planet "Growing Up Baby", so the majority of my post will be about just that...Alex growing up. I will also post about his milestones, recipes for kids, crafts and learning tools I've found while reading other mom's blogs.

My blog is still a work in progress, so bare with me.

Enjoy! :-)
